I know it's flat and straight but if it's half as beautiful as the causeway to Sanibel Island I want to drive it one day.

It's pretty similar to the Sanibel causeway, but the water's cleaner and shallower. YOu live in the Fort Myers area?

Its a pretty road, but the drive from Miami to Key West is quite tedious.

What, you don't like being stuck behind a four mile line of cars doing 25 mph for three hours straight?

Its right up there with getting poked in the eye with a sharp stick.

No. We have a vacation house down here we have been coming to for the past 10 years. Usually once or twice a year we are down here for two weeks

Do you live down here?

What about an early morning drive like 7am?

Might not be too bad then, but the speed limit is still fairly slow and it only takes one bad driver to ruin your morning.

Yeah, Cape Coral.

Yep, this. There are hardly any passing zones because you're either on a bridge or on a small island the whole way out.

There's actually a ferry that goes from Fort Myers to Key West at a reasonable rate. My parents bought a vacation house in Cape Coral and this will be their 3rd winter. I'm down there once or twice a year.

My folks just bought a place in Cape. This'll be their 3rd winter. I'm usually down once or twice a year.

Very nice area down here. Weirdest Christmas I have ever had though. Normally cold back home but I think Christmas should be cold.

Yeah, Christmas is strange down here. I'm still not used to it. The area's okay depending on what you're into. If you're looking for a low key, quiet place to visit or retire, it's great. It's very sedate and hard to live with, though.

I personally like kayaking and boating can be fun. I don't think I could handle heavy traffic regularly also I miss the hills and curves back home. FM is full of nice cars but I think it would be hard to enjoy them.

Would rather drive that than the Pontchartrain Causeway Bridge.

I've driven it many times and it's always beautiful. :)

How bad of a bridge are we talking here?

Do you love in the area than? I imagine it's one of the most scenic drives in the country.

Oh no. I live in Cali. :) I used to visit Florida frequently, not so much now though. The Gulf off Florida is truly beautiful.
I was actually referring to the Sanibel causeway. Not the Keys.... Never been there. Sorry, I should have been more specific. Lol

I visit Sanibel regularly as well it's just stunning to go over that causeway. California ain't too shabby though.

23.8 miles of straight, two lane expansion joints over brackish, nasty lake water. Oh, and it costs $3 to drive south bound.

My first time ever going across it though, I saw a huge alligator on one of the little strips of land that are in the water. So I guess that's nice.
